All geared to speed: The Samsung Elpis controller was developed especially for PCIe 4.0 SSDs. As a result, the 980 PRO can achieve read speeds of up to 7,000 MB/s¹ and can therefore be twice as fast as a PCIe 3.0 SSD or 12.7 times faster than a SATA SSD². The 980 PRO achieves maximum performance on a PCIe 4.0 interface, performance may vary in other application environments

Effective protection against overheating
High-performance SSDs require appropriate temperature management. In order to provide consistent performance, the 980 PRO is equipped with a nickel coating that can improve the controller's heat level. In addition, a heat spreader dissipates the operating heat and thus effectively regulates the temperature of the flash memory".

Practical temperature management
With Samsung's latest algorithm for heat regulation, the 980 PRO can control temperatures autonomously, providing continuous and reliable performance. To minimise performance fluctuations in the long term, Samsung's Dynamic Thermal Guard technology keeps the 980 PRO's operating temperature at a suitable level.
